“The DRC between political progress and security challenges: focus on the agricultural partnership and the current situation”

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is at the center of all attention. The National Advocacy Alliance for Reparations for Conflict Victims (ANPR) continues its lobbying work with the country’s institutions to accelerate the process of implementing Law No. 22/065 of December 26, 2022 on fundamental principles relating to the protection and reparation of victims of conflict-related sexual violence and victims of crimes against the peace and security of mankind.

Faced with the persistence of the security crisis in the province of Kongo Central in 2023, the government has launched a new agricultural program in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro-Business. This program aims to improve the food security of the population and promote the economic development of the region.

At the same time, armed men have illegally occupied the residence of Moïse Katumbi and security remains threatened in the country. The situation is all the more worrying since 100 people were kidnapped last April in the DRC.

Despite the challenges, the DRC continues to make political progress with the issuance of a national identity card and the holding of a new electoral process. The European Union discusses the security situation and the electoral process with the DRC ambassador to Benelux and to the EU.

Finally, in another register, the DRC football team is preparing to face the Panthers of Gabon during CAN 2023.

The DRC still faces many challenges, but it is on the right track to improve its political, security and economic situation
