“The Agricultural Voluntary Program (PVA): a step forward for the development of agriculture and the improvement of food security in the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the Congolese economy. This is why the government and its partners have launched the Agricultural Voluntary Program (PVA) to support local farmers in their development.

The PVA is a partnership between DEM, the Congolese government and Bio Agro Business. The key objectives of this program include the provision of agricultural equipment, the construction of warehouses and processing units, the production and processing of agricultural products, and the mentoring of farmers in rural areas.

The DEM company provided a supplier credit of 139 million USD to deliver the necessary agricultural equipment and supplies, build the warehouses and processing units, as well as maintain this equipment for three years.

In return, the Congolese government must provide completed sites to the Bio Agro Business for the production and processing of agricultural products (corn, cassava and rice) and for the supervision and support of farmers in rural areas.

The PVA is an ambitious program that aims to improve food security in the DRC and empower local farmers to thrive. This could have a positive impact on the Congolese economy as a whole and strengthen the country’s economic stability.

Overall, the PVA is a step in the right direction to improve agriculture in the DRC and support local farmers. There is no doubt that this program will have a significant impact on the Congolese economy and will strengthen food security in the country.
