The agents who worked on the revision of the electoral register in Isiro and in the territory of Rungu demonstrated to claim their unpaid salaries. This demonstration was organized to demand their two-month salaries with a new 14-day claim to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
This protest movement comes a few days before the formation of the office for the reception and processing of applications (BRTC) in this dismembered province of the great eastern region. The demonstrators, who besieged the office of the electoral center, challenged the politicians for their involvement in this situation. They also requested a commitment from the national president of the CENI, Denis Kadima, for a rapid resolution of their situation.
This demonstration is in addition to another which took place 72 hours earlier in the territory of Niangara which is 145 kilometers from Isiro in the northeastern part of the province. Dissatisfaction of election workers with their salary has been common for some time. This highlights the importance for administrations to ensure clear communication and respond to employee requests to avoid business disruption.
Despite the efforts of POLITICO.CD’s editorial staff to contact the CENI in place, no official press release has been provided on the situation of the electoral agents on strike.
