Annual conference of the Ahmadiyya community in the DRC: how to change the tarnished image of Islam?

The Annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community took place from June 9 to 10 in Kananga, capital of the province of Kasai Central. The theme chosen was obedience and the participation was noticed with about 2,000 Muslims coming from different corners of the Greater Kasai area.

The representative of this Muslim community, Khalid Mahmoud Shahid Amir jama’at of the Ahmadiyya community in the DRC, was present to strengthen the faith of Muslims and explain the principles of the Holy Quran. According to him in an interview with the editorial staff of CONGOPROFOND. NET, this theme was chosen to help understand that Muslims should obey the established authorities, the leaders of the community and do good rather than evil.

This theme was chosen to counter the tarnished image of Islam following acts of terrorism which are often attributed to Muslims. Some leaders do not preach true Islam and this has changed the true face of Islam. The Khalid Mahmoud Shahid Amir jama’at of the Ahmadiyya community in the DRC wants to change this by organizing conferences open to all faiths to explain to Muslims and their guests that Muslims are those who have good values, who are not terrorists as it is often said.

This conference was followed by the inauguration of some mosques in the surrounding villages of the City of Kananga.

In short, this conference was intended to restore the true image of Islam which has been tarnished in recent times, and to remind Muslims that the Holy Quran asks them to do good, to respect the established authorities, the leaders of the community and the principles of obedience
