Public health in the DRC – Technical exchange for Universal Health Coverage
The Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Roger Samuel Kamba, met the representative of the World Bank in the DRC, Albert Zeufack, to discuss the issue of Universal Health Coverage (UHC ) of the Congolese.
The discussions focused on the vision of the Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi concerning the generalization of access to quality care for all Congolese. The objective is to reduce infant and maternal mortality and to make childbirth free.
The collaboration between the government of the DRC and the World Bank has made it possible to set up free childbirth programs in twelve pilot provinces. This collaboration could extend to other areas such as nutrition.
The World Bank plans to provide support to the government on the costed UHC strategy in the coming days. This will entail expanding the financial instruments already in place, such as the Health System Development Project (PDSS).
In summary, the collaboration between the government of the DRC and the World Bank will make it possible to offer quality care to all Congolese thanks to universal health coverage.
