“Enno Stahl in the DRC to soak up the story of Lumumba: An opportunity for the promotion of Congolese literature”

The promotion of Congolese literature is a key issue for cultural actors in the DRC. Thus, the Goethe Institute of Kinshasa has joined forces with the Café Littéraire de Missy to receive the German writer Enno Stahl. He had come to immerse himself in the story of Patrice Émery Lumumba in order to complete his new novel which is in the works.

For Enno Stahl, Patrice Lumumba is a symbol of African sovereignty and continues to impact the history of Congo and Africa. Lumumba was the first Prime Minister of the DRC and died on January 17, 1961. His struggle, courage and commitment inspired many Africans and others around the world.

Enno Stahl decided to come to the DRC to collect relevant information about Lumumba’s story in order to better represent her in his novel. He explains to us the importance of his stay in Kinshasa:

“I couldn’t write the rest of the story without going to Congo and experiencing daily life. I cannot write this part without having seen the Africans here in Kinshasa. »

Missy Bangala, president of the Café Littéraire de Missy, welcomed Enno Stahl’s initiative. She is happy to see that a German author wants to write about Lumumba and come to take steps to find the real story and the right words for the current situation.

In short, the arrival of Enno Stahl in the DRC is an opportunity for the promotion of Congolese literature. It reaffirms the importance of continuing to explore the mysteries of Africa’s history and to introduce heroes of its history to the current generation.
