“The unexpected twist in the Godé Mpoy affair: request to resume functions at the APK arouses skepticism”

Rehabilitation of Godé Mpoy and request for resumption of functions to the APK

In an unexpected twist, the Kinshasa/Gombe Court of Appeal recently reinstated Godé Mpoy as President of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly (APK). This decision created surprise among elected officials in Kinshasa, especially since Godé Mpoy was supposed to take 45 days of intellectual rest, according to the recommendations of his attending physician.

However, instead of respecting this period of rest, Godé Mpoy immediately ordered Francis Tshibalabala, the interim president of the APK, to send him the files of the Assembly. A strange request, especially since Godé Mpoy has not provided satisfactory evidence or explanations concerning the motion for forfeiture against him filed by a provincial deputy and five other elected officials.

But Godé Mpoy’s request was met with perplexity by APK members. Indeed, Francis Tshibalabala responded by stating that he had not received the judgment of the Court of Appeal rehabilitating Godé Mpoy and that the Assembly itself had not been officially seized of this notification. Moreover, he reminded Godé Mpoy that he was supposed to be on intellectual rest and awaiting final approval from his doctor before resuming his duties.

This situation sheds light on the ongoing soap opera surrounding the APK presidency. As Godé Mpoy seeks to regain his position, he still has to deal with doubts about his legitimacy and provide the necessary evidence to justify his reinstatement.

In conclusion, the rehabilitation of Godé Mpoy by the Court of Appeal of Kinshasa/Gombe does not seem to convince the members of the Provincial Assembly of Kinshasa. Before being able to return to his post, Godé Mpoy will have to provide solid and convincing evidence to justify his reinstatement. The case therefore remains open and leaves the suspense hanging over the future of the APK presidency
