RFI launches the 10th edition of the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship to honor two emblematic journalists

Ten years later, the tragic assassination of RFI reporters, Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon, in Kidal, Mali, remains etched in our memories. To pay tribute to these emblematic journalists, RFI is launching the tenth edition of the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship.

This scholarship aims to transmit their professionalism and their passion for reporting to young African journalists and technicians. Applications are open to professionals under the age of 35, from the 25 French-speaking countries of the continent.

The training, which will take place in Abidjan, will allow the selected candidates to follow workshops and produce a report or a sound element, depending on their area of expertise. A jury made up of representatives from RFI, the Ivorian press, the Sciences Po School of Journalism and INA will meet to select a winner in each category.

The award will take place on November 2, during a ceremony in Abidjan, in commemoration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

The winners will also benefit from a one-month training in Paris, where they will be able to deepen their skills and expand their professional network.

This initiative by RFI bears witness to the ongoing commitment to support and train the new generation of African journalists, while perpetuating the memory of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon.

Applications are open until August 25, and participants are invited to submit their application form, their curriculum vitae as well as a sample of their journalistic or technical work.

The Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship is a unique opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills and perpetuate the legacy of these two courageous reporters
