“State exam in the DRC: Publication of the results scheduled for August 18 despite the payment difficulties of service providers”

Expectations are high for the thousands of candidates who passed the 2023 session State Examination in the Democratic Republic of Congo. And they won’t have to wait long for their results. According to the Minister of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education, Tony Mwaba, the publication of the results is scheduled from August 18.

This announcement comes after technical and financial difficulties which have hampered the smooth running of the various stages of the examination. Indeed, the service providers in charge of the correction of the State Examination claim the payment of their premiums. A late payment that could affect the publication of the results.

The problem of provider payments has been recurrent since last year, with broken promises. The correctors of the state exam deplore this situation and are still waiting to receive their due, in vain. This situation has given rise to demands from the Synergy of teachers’ unions in the DRC, which has asked the government to pay the premiums of all those involved in the organization of national certification tests.

The Inspector General of the EPST, Odia Musungayi, acknowledged the legitimacy of this claim, but indicated that the file was in the hands of the Ministries of Budget and Finance. The service providers are therefore still waiting for a resolution of this problem, which risks weighing on the credibility of the state examination and discouraging the participants.

It is important to emphasize that the state exam is a crucial step for Congolese students, because it determines access to higher education. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders ensure that this process runs smoothly and that stakeholders are properly compensated for their work.

While awaiting the publication of the results, the candidates and their relatives are impatiently awaiting this deadline which will determine their future. We hope that the difficulties encountered will be quickly resolved and that the results of the State Examination session 2023 will be published within the announced deadlines
