It is with sadness that we learn of the explosion of a tank truck carrying fuel in Kinshasa, which caused the death of five people. The accident occurred in the Lemba district, more precisely on the By-pass road. In addition to the casualties, seven people were also injured and extensive material damage was reported.

According to testimonies collected on the spot, the tanker would have hit a pole of the electric cables of the SNEL (National Electricity Company) before igniting. The fire quickly spread, causing the burning of several shops and businesses located nearby.

This tragic accident once again raises the question of the safety and management of flammable products in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It highlights the risks incurred when transporting dangerous substances and stresses the importance of implementing strict measures to avoid such tragedies.

It is crucial that the Congolese authorities take preventive measures to guarantee the safety of citizens and to ensure that the standards for the transport of flammable products are respected.
