Discord between Fally Ipupa and her daughter Keyna: a reprehensible act?
In a show recently filmed in Europe, Fally Ipupa, a famous Congolese musician, said he wanted to remove the tattoo dedicated to his eldest daughter Keyna from his shoulder. The claim sparked controversy online and was widely commented on on social media.
For Fally Ipupa, his decision is motivated by the vociferations of his ex-wife, the mother of his child, who declared in the public square (social networks) that their daughters are orphans. Under these conditions, Fally Ipupa preferred to erase the trace of her eldest daughter from her shoulder.
“Moms are often emotional and their emotion often drives them mad,” said the musician artist. Still, this statement was not well received by many netizens. For many, a father cannot afford to disown his own daughter in this way.
Among the outraged, we can cite the journalist Maître Lwariba, who declared on his Facebook account that Fally Ipupa should expect nothing better than to forgive his daughter. For him, a responsible man cannot lynch his own offspring in public.
Many artists in the DRC have had trouble with their children, especially girls. Ferre Gola and Koffi Olomide, to name a few, also occupied the pages of the newspapers for unpopular reasons.
Ultimately, what does this tell us about Congolese society in general? Many fathers in the DRC find it difficult to maintain good relationships with their children and it seems that artists are not spared.
In the case of Fally Ipupa, it is a question of dignity and respect for her own family, which has become a public matter. In a country where family and kinship are at the center of all society, it is unfortunate that such quarrels are exposed in public.
Ultimately, we could say that it is important for parents to remember that their role is first and foremost to guide and protect their children and teach them to be good people. Domestic disputes should not be exposed publicly as this often leads to outrage and division, which is bad for Congolese society as a whole.
