The Games of La Francophonie are an opportunity for French-speaking nations around the world to come together and celebrate sporting and cultural excellence. But this special edition of Kinshasa 2023 stands out with a strong commitment to environmental protection and the fight against plastic pollution.

The Kinshasa 2023 Francophone Games National Committee has become aware of the urgency of the environmental crisis and has decided to act. John Katumba, supervisor of the “Sustainable Development and Tourism Commission”, explains the measures put in place to keep the games sites clean. He and his team take care of nine different sites and ensure that the sustainable development charter is respected.

Their job is to constantly clean the sites, empty the bins, disinfest and supervise the flow of tourists to the different tourist areas of the city. Their goal is to show the world that Congo is committed to preserving the environment and transitioning to a circular economy.

The effort of the organizers does not go unnoticed by the public, who are impressed by their commitment to cleanliness and the environment. In addition, many volunteers have joined them in this process and spectators are respecting the instructions to keep the sites clean, in particular the stadiums and stadiums.

John Katumba expresses his satisfaction with the growing commitment of young Congolese in the protection of the environment. He stresses the importance of taking charge of their own future and working together for a better country.

The Games of La Francophonie Kinshasa 2023 are thus an opportunity to show that sport can be a force for change and awareness for the preservation of the environment. By emphasizing the cleanliness of the sites and encouraging the active participation of the public, these games are part of a sustainable and responsible approach.

Congo is thus setting an example by using sport as a lever to fight against plastic pollution and to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Hopefully other sporting events will follow this example and help preserve our planet for future generations.
