Title: The Human Impact of Conflict in Sudan: The Ordeal of Sudanese Refugees in South Sudan

Introduction:
Since the start of the conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the humanitarian situation has continued to deteriorate. More than three million Sudanese have been forced to flee, and of these more than half a million have found refuge in South Sudan. In Gorom camp, near the capital Juba, Sudanese refugees face extremely difficult living conditions, aggravated by the lack of humanitarian assistance. In this article, we reflect on the ordeal experienced by Sudanese refugees and the desperate search for news of their loved ones left behind in Sudan.

Families torn apart by war:
Amani Rashid Mohamed, a mother, had to flee Khartoum with her son and daughter. Unfortunately, at a checkpoint, her son was held back by the Sudanese army. Since then, she has lived in anguish, desperately seeking news of her son and hoping that he is still alive. Many other refugees share this pain, not knowing whether their loved ones survived or suffered atrocities during the conflict.

The quest for news: a constant heartbreak:
Abdelaziz Osman Mohamed, another refugee, fled the town of al-Fasher in Darfur. Since leaving, he has completely lost contact with the rest of his family. He doesn’t know where they are or if they are still alive. He appealed to the Red Cross to try to find a member of his family and obtain information. For Selwa, a student who fled Khartoum, the weeks without hearing from her family were an unbearable time. She was in total uncertainty, not knowing if her loved ones were alive or victims of the ongoing genocide. When she finally got the news, the relief was immense, but she discovered that their house had been burnt down. Other refugees were less fortunate, losing many family members in attacks by paramilitary forces.

The urgency of humanitarian aid:
In Gorom camp, Sudanese refugees face many challenges. The lack of humanitarian assistance is glaring, leaving these people in deplorable living conditions. Organizations such as the Red Cross and human rights organizations are called upon to act to help these refugees and support them in their search for news of their loved ones.

Conclusion:
The conflict in Sudan has created a major humanitarian crisis, with millions of Sudanese forced to flee their country. In South Sudan, Sudanese refugees live in precarious conditions, facing the anguish of not hearing from their loved ones back in Sudan. It is crucial that the international community put in place adequate humanitarian assistance to respond to the urgency of this situation and provide support to refugees in their search for news and comfort.
