Strong tension in Kinshasa, while Congolese opponents, such as Martin Fayulu, Matata, Katumbi and Sesanga, were in the street to organize a sit-in in front of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), this Thursday, May 25. The government took precautions, deploying police officers who blocked access to the CENI headquarters.
In a statement, the President of the Piste Pour l’Emergence Party, Seth Kikuni, said he was not surprised by the repression of the government police and added that the response of the opposition will be all the stronger. “We will resist and we will fight to prevent Felix Tshisekedi’s second term as head of the country,” he said. Declared presidential candidate Seth Kikuni said the opposition “promised” to the Congolese that the 2018 scenario would not repeat itself.
In the meantime, the government announces a continuation of the modernization of the Congolese army, in the face of Rwanda’s hegemonic ambitions. President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi is currently in China to renegotiate the contract of the century, paving the way for a better distribution of profits in the DRC.
The evolution of the political situation in the DRC continues, via a reinforced call for democracy and the opposition; events that should not leave indifferent the Congolese who are waiting for a better future
