The Secretary General of Udps/Tshisekedi and Vice-President of the Socialist International Augustin Kabuya carried out a diplomatic mission in Europe from May 19 to 26, 2023. The SG of Udps, accompanied by a delegation composed of members of the party and allies, was warmly welcomed at Zaventem airport in Brussels, by militants and executives of his party as well as those of other allies of the Udps.
During his stay, Augustin Kabuya multiplied interviews, political meetings as well as talks with delegations from different countries. The SG met successively with the members of the federations of Great Britain, Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany. He also visited Alexandre Ngyekama, federal president hospitalized in the Ile de France region.
Augustin Kabuya stressed the importance of discipline in a political party during his meeting with members of the federal committee of the British delegation. To the members of the Federal Committee of Belgium, he called for sincerity, unity, non-exposure of party problems in social networks and consideration of Udps fighters of all kinds. The SG also discussed with the members of the federation of France the questions of current state of the activities of the federation, the preparations for the presidential election, the financial and material means for the federation.
The day of May 24, 2023 was marked by the visit of the Zaventem airport by the SG to welcome its distinguished guest, Ms Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International. Augustin Kabuya and Mrs. Lasi had constructive exchanges on the prospects of the Socialist International. At the end of the day, they met Mr. Philippe Close, 1st vice-president of the Belgian Socialist Party and mayor of the city of Brussels.
The SG also discussed the state of the diplomatic mission at the DRC Embassy in Belgium and spoke with the Udps community of Belgium. The hundreds of fighters present were encouraged by the party leader.
Augustin Kabuya’s diplomatic mission in Europe was an opportunity for him to meet members of the Udps federations and various European political parties to discuss issues of national and international interest.
