The political situation in Kalemie has been turbulent recently, with protests planned by two factions of the Sacred Union of the Nation. However, the mayor of the city, David Mukeba Mbombo, prevented the holding of these demonstrations by setting up a security device to block access to the Joseph Kabila stadium, the place planned for the rally.

The two currents of the Sacred Union, led respectively by Governor Julie Ngungua and Provincial Executive Secretary Christian Kitungwa, had planned to organize demonstrations in support of President Félix Tshisekedi. However, the mayor took the decision to prevent these gatherings from taking place to maintain order and security in the city.

Christian Kitungwa nevertheless announced to supporters the postponement of the demonstration to the following Saturday, following a discussion with Augustin Kabuya, secretary general of the UDPS, and Peter Kazadi, deputy prime minister of the interior. It is important to note that the Sacred Union led by Christian Kitungwa brings together the majority of the federal presidents of the member parties of the platform.

On the other hand, Governor Julie Ngungua, led by the other faction of the Sacred Union, affirms that no demonstration of the Sacred Union can be organized without its approval. This divergence within the Sacred Union highlights the power struggles and divisions that can exist within a political coalition.

It is clear that the political situation in Kalemie is complex and tumultuous. The different factions of the Sacred Union are vying for control and expressing differing opinions on the organization of the demonstrations. It remains to be seen how this situation will evolve and whether a peaceful resolution can be found.
