“At the heart of Congolese politics: the intensive trip of the Secretary General of the UDPS/Tshisekedi party to Europe”

Political life in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a constantly topical subject. Recently, the Secretary General of the UDPS/Tshisekedi political party and Vice-President of the Socialist International, Augustin Kabuya, traveled along the Paris-Brussels axis from May 19 to 26, 2023. This trip is part of an intense political activity that lasted several days.

During this trip, the Secretary General met with several delegations to discuss issues relating to discipline within parties, unity and sincerity, as well as the situation of the major problems that weaken federations. He also visited Alexandre Ngyekama, Federal President hospitalized at the Gonesse Hospital Center in the Ile de France region, with a message of comfort and support.

Back in Brussels, Augustin Kabuya welcomed Ms Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International, for constructive discussions on the prospects of the Socialist International. The General Secretary also met the members of the federations of the Netherlands and Germany who came to discuss with him.

His trips to Paris and Brussels also allowed him to discuss the initiatives for the presidential election, the financial and material means necessary for the federation, as well as the situation of relations between the Udps and the Belgian Socialist Party. He also visited the DRC Embassy in Belgium to discuss the diplomatic mission and communication with other embassies.

Finally, the meeting between the Udps community of Belgium and the Secretary General brought together hundreds of fighters. The Secretary General provided them with advice in the conduct of the policy.

This trip by Augustin Kabuya to Europe shows the importance of relations between the DRC and the countries of the European Union for the stability of the country and the development of its institutions. However, it is important that these political initiatives do not remain photo opportunities but become real actions for the well-being of the Congolese population.
