“The Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: between sports competition and cultural celebration”

The IX Games of La Francophonie have already started in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While the official opening ceremony is scheduled for this Friday evening at the Stade des Martyrs, the sports competitions have already started with the football match between the DRC and Benin.

Unfortunately, the Leopards U20 of the DRC did not manage to hold their rank during this first match. Facing a very fit Beninese team, the Congolese players were trapped and finally lost 2-0.

The match, which took place on the new lawn of the recently renovated Stade Raphaël, was not to the advantage of the locals. After a dull first half, the visitors found the fault in the 57th minute and drove the nail home in the last quarter of an hour. The DRC will now have to get up and try to recover points against Mali in their next match on Sunday July 30.

These Games of La Francophonie are an opportunity for the participating countries to show their talent and determination in different sporting disciplines. Athletes from all francophone backgrounds come together to celebrate the diversity and richness of this linguistic community.

In addition to sports competitions, the Games of La Francophonie also offer the opportunity to promote Francophone culture and art through festivals, exhibitions and shows. It is an event that strengthens ties between French-speaking countries and highlights their common heritage.

As the Games of La Francophonie continue in Kinshasa, all eyes are on the next sporting events and moments of cultural sharing. Athletes, artists and spectators are preparing to live intense moments and create memories that will remain etched in their memory.

Whether on the lawn of the Stade des Martyrs, in the art galleries or on the concert stages, the Games of La Francophonie are an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and fraternity of the Francophonie
