The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is plagued by a situation of growing insecurity, particularly in the North Kivu region. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Jean-Pierre Bemba, recently informed members of the government during the 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers that the Congolese armed forces are on alert against M23 terrorists, supported by the Rwandan army, who continue their actions of destabilization in this region.
Several reinforcements of Rwandan military troops have been reported, coming from the Mwaru border post, and attacks by Mobondo assailants have been recorded in several provinces of the country. The Congolese government is thus on high alert to restore peace and state authority in parts of the country affected by insecurity.
The gradual return of the Teke to their villages has been noted, following the activation of river activities, the traffic of boats and other craft. However, the situation in the region remains precarious. The government and the supreme commander of the armed forces of the DRC are determined to spare no effort to restore peace in this Central African country.
The situation in the DRC is worrying and requires special attention to guarantee the safety of the populations. The acts of destabilization of certain armed groups must be condemned and the competent authorities must take all the necessary measures to restore peace to the country. The different stakeholders must work together to restore stability in the DRC
