In May 2023, the Secretary General of the UDPS/Tshisekedi and Vice-President of the Socialist International, Augustin Kabuya, traveled to Europe with a delegation including in particular directors of cabinet, presidents of the Youth League and provincial ministers. They were warmly welcomed at Zaventem airport by militants and executives of their party as well as other allies of the UDPS, before starting intense political activity.
Augustin Kabuya met several delegations, including those of the Federations of Great Britain and Belgium. He discussed with them the situation of the major problems weakening the federation across the Channel, before inviting the members of the Belgian federation to sincerity, unity and non-exposure of the party’s problems in social networks. .
The Secretary General also met with the delegation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which expressed the wish to see its entity erected into a federation. Augustin Kabuya informed them that the situation would be examined.
In France, Augustin Kabuya spoke with members of the French federation, before visiting Alexandre Ngyekama, federal president hospitalized at the Gonesse Hospital Center.
Back in Brussels, Augustin Kabuya received an audience of several members of the federations of the Netherlands and Germany, and also welcomed Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International, who came to discuss the prospects of the Socialist International with the Spd party.
The visit to Europe ended with a meeting between the UDPS community in Belgium and the Secretary General, who addressed hundreds of fighters, encouraging them to continue their commitment and their political struggle.
This political mission was a highlight for the UDPS, which was able to strengthen its ties with its European allies and discuss current political issues both in the DRC and internationally.
