“The evolution of the Local Development Program in the DRC: the IGF ensures the follow-up for a balanced development of the territories”

The evolution of the Local Development Program of 145 territories of the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to arouse the interest of the General Inspectorate of Finance. This large-scale project launched by the President of the Republic, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, aims to promote development from decentralized territorial entities.

As part of monitoring the execution of this program, an IGF delegation visited the province of Kasai-Oriental to assess the progress of the work. Unfortunately, the situation was bitter in Tshilenge, where angry residents destroyed the administrative building under construction, preferring cement blocks rather than baked bricks.

Despite these setbacks, the IGF delegation remains optimistic about the end of the work and the positive impact on development. However, areas of risk persist, particularly with regard to the correct use of materials by contractors. The IGF has well-equipped building engineer inspectors to assess the quality of the works under construction.

The IGF Deputy Head of Service, Victor Batubenga, stresses the importance of children studying in good schools, having access to local health centers and that those responsible for the territories have good working conditions, in accordance with the vision of President Tshisekedi.

During their visit, the IGF delegation noted the progress of work in several villages, despite the difficulties related to the supply of building materials. Recommendations were made to improve study conditions for students and ensure proper development of the territories.

In the end, the rigorous inspection of the works by the IGF aims to guarantee the conformity of the works, to avoid the embezzlement of funds and to ensure a balanced development of rural areas. The Congolese government remains determined to achieve its ambition to develop the territories through this program, despite the challenges encountered on the ground.

In conclusion, the evolution of the Local Development Program in the DRC continues to attract the attention of the IGF, which plays a key role in monitoring and supervising the works. The objective is to guarantee a balanced development of the territories and to improve the living conditions of the populations. Despite the challenges encountered, the government remains committed to carrying out this flagship project for the well-being of the Congolese population
