The 10th ICGLR conference in Luanda, Angola aims to analyze the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. At this conference, the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi took part in order to discuss with João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, current president of the CIRGL, and mediator appointed to facilitate dialogue between the DRC and the Republic of Rwanda.
This conference, which follows on from the initiatives around the Luanda roadmap, should make it possible to take stock of the Luanda and Nairobi processes. Thus, the Heads of State and their representatives present in Luanda continue their work behind closed doors, before producing a final communiqué.
In addition, Presidents Joao Lourenço and Moussa Faki expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Khartoum, Sudan. Note that two speeches marked the opening ceremony in the conference room of the Intercontinental Hotel in Luanda.
The Luanda summit is a meeting at the initiative of the Angolan Head of State, whose purpose is to analyze the security situation in eastern DRC and the Republic of Sudan. It is encouraging to see that initiatives such as the Luanda roadmap, despite all the challenges they face, continue to be implemented to achieve the objective of security, stability and peace in Africa.
Finally, we hope that the results of the Luanda conference will be able to help the DRC to consolidate its peace, its stability and to strengthen its economy. It goes without saying that peace and security are key factors for economic development, but also for the satisfaction and happiness of populations.
