Respect for human rights is often a major issue in many countries, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is in this context that a delegation from the General Secretariat for Human Rights is currently on a mission to the province of Haut-Uele to set up a Provincial Division there, as is already done in other provinces of the country.
The objective of this mission is to provide this new Division with the managers and agents necessary for its proper functioning. Thus, vade-mecums written in French, Lingala and Swahili have been delivered to popularize the laws and make the population aware of their legitimate rights.
The provincial Minister of Justice and Human Rights stressed the need to mechanize the executives and agents who work in this sector, adding that this mission is an opportunity to strengthen efforts in favor of human rights in the province.
This mission is therefore an essential contribution to the promotion of human rights in this country. However, this should not make us forget that the security of populations is also a major issue, especially in troubled regions. Indeed, the DRC must work to stabilize sensitive areas, as was stressed by the governor of Ituri following a new terrorist attack in Beni.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country in full evolution which must work on several fronts to allow a continuous improvement of the quality of life of its citizens. In this, the establishment of a Provincial Division of Human Rights in the province of Haut-Uele is a step in favor of this objective.
