DRC-Angola Economic Forum: Towards sustainable bilateral and economic cooperation
The Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Angola plan to establish solid economic and bilateral cooperation in order to take advantage of common resources for the benefit of their respective peoples. It is within this framework that the first edition of the Economic Forum was organized, in partnership with the Ministries of National Economy of the two countries.
The official opening of the Economic Forum was made by Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde. For two days, experts and entrepreneurs from both countries will reflect on various sub-themes such as economic cooperation, business opportunities, investments, movement of goods and people as well as security issues at common borders.
Prime Minister Sama Lukonde stressed the importance of this event, which follows the meeting between the Congolese and Angolan Heads of State and which aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. Both the DRC and Angola have significant natural resources, such as minerals (diamonds, copper, oil), fauna and flora rich in biodiversity, as well as arable land and fishery resources. These resources provide a solid foundation for sustainable development.
The Economic Forum also offers an opportunity for the Greater Inga Integrative Project, which aims to revive the Angolan economy through the supply of electrical energy. It could also promote the creation of a free trade area between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the DRC, Vital Kamerhe, invited the participants to debates and fruitful exchanges during the various panels. The Minister of Economy and Planning of Angola, Mario Augusto Caetano Joao, hailed the organization of this event, which testifies to the will of the two countries to strengthen their economic cooperation.
This first edition of the DRC-Angola Economic Forum thus marks an important step in strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries, encouraging partnerships and mutually beneficial investments. It also paves the way for broader economic integration in Central Africa and the creation of a free trade area in sub-Saharan Africa.
Economic cooperation between the DRC and Angola is therefore a step towards sustainable development and shared prosperity for both peoples. The abundant resources of the two countries offer many opportunities for fruitful economic cooperation, which could have a positive impact on the entire region. This Economic Forum is thus an important platform to promote trade, investment and partnerships between the DRC and Angola, thus contributing to the economic development of Central Africa
