The DRC-ANGOLA 2023 Economic Forum in Kinshasa: An unprecedented opportunity to strengthen the partnership and stimulate growth between the two countries

Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is about to become the center of a major economic event. Indeed, from July 31 to August 1, 2023, the city will host the first edition of the DRC-ANGOLA economic forum. This announcement was made during the meeting of the Council of Ministers, where the VPM, Minister of National Economy, Vital Kamerhe, stressed the importance of this forum.

Under the theme “Economic Partnership for Shared Growth”, this event aims to promote a strategic and mutually beneficial partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. Discussions will focus on opportunities for collaboration in different areas such as the free movement of people and capital, the fight against fraud and cross-border smuggling, as well as the development of transport infrastructure and communication routes.

In addition to political decision-makers, this forum will also bring together economic operators from the two countries. The objective is to explore business opportunities, cross-investments, as well as synergies and complementarities between the Congolese and Angolan economies. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen economic ties between the two neighboring countries, which already enjoy good relations.

Angola also plays a crucial role in conflict resolution in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Angolan President Joao Lourenço was appointed mediator during the security crisis marked by attacks by M23 rebels in the east of the country. This strengthened collaboration between the two countries will therefore also make it possible to consolidate political and diplomatic ties.

In short, the DRC-ANGOLA economic forum in Kinshasa in 2023 is a major opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their economic partnership and stimulate their joint growth. This is an event of political, economic and diplomatic importance, which will contribute to the development of both nations
