“Football Club Renaissance du Congo becomes Olympique Club Renaissance: a new chapter for the famous Congolese club!”

Football Club Renaissance du Congo, one of the most popular teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has just announced a major change in its identity. From this Thursday, July 27, 2023, the club will now be known as Olympique Club Renaissance. This transformation is mainly explained by the requirements of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding obtaining the CAF license.

By carrying out this change, the club also becomes a multi-sports club, broadening its field of activities beyond football. This decision was confirmed during the ordinary and elective general meeting, during which Maxime Selemani was elected president of the coordination of OC Renaissance.

On the other hand, the position of vice-president remains vacant, while the club secretariat is maintained under the responsibility of Moboti and Willy Kindembe, who returns as an advisor in this new committee. A statutory meeting will take place in the coming days to formalize the change of name and status of the club.

This transfer was necessary so that the club could fulfill the requirements of CAF and participate in continental competitions with a CAF license. Committed to Linafoot D1, Olympique Club Renaissance du Congo will make its debut under its new identity in a match against AS Maniema-Union, scheduled for September 3, 2023.

This development marks a new stage in the history of the club, which aims to strengthen its presence on the Congolese and African sports scene. Hopefully this change of identity will bring new opportunities and success for the Olympique Club Renaissance du Congo
