Launch of the Francophone Games: Kinshasa ready to host the ninth edition

This evening, at the Martyrs stadium in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the official launch of the ninth edition of the Games of La Francophonie will take place. This sporting and cultural event will bring together French-speaking countries in a high-level competition.

The opening ceremony promises to be solemn and grand. The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde and all members of the government will be present to mark this event. The Congolese Head of State will kick off this French-speaking high mass himself.

From 2 p.m., the Martyrs stadium will open its doors to the public with their access bracelet. The speeches of the Director of the National Committee of the Francophonie Games, the Director of the International Committee of the Francophonie Games and the administrator of the OIF as well as President Tshisekedi will punctuate the evening.

The opening ceremony will showcase the culture and diversity of the DRC, as well as the dynamics of the city of Kinshasa as the host city of the games. It will also highlight the three key values ​​of this event: Solidarity, Diversity and Excellence.

The parade of 36 delegations, made up of 2,500 athletes, will be one of the highlights of the evening. Each delegation will parade with its colors and symbols, reflecting the cultural richness of French-speaking countries. In addition, an artistic show will enhance this opening ceremony.

The Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa offer a diversified program with 20 disciplines, including 9 sports and 11 cultural. Athletes and artists from French-speaking countries will compete in talent and competitiveness to win the medals.
