The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is preparing to host the 9th Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa, from July 28 to August 6. Construction and infrastructure rehabilitation work is progressing rapidly, in particular that of the Tata Raphaël stadium, which has benefited from a real makeover. According to officials from the Alliance des Bâtisseurs Congolais (ABC), the historic stadium, which is one of the sites that will host the games, is almost ready, only the laying of the lawn and some finishing touches remain.
For the ABC, this heavy responsibility entrusted to the Congolese testifies to the political will of the Head of State, Félix Tshisekedi, to make Congolese entrepreneurs millionaires in the DRC. This new dynamic driven by the President is thus reflected in the ABC’s desire to deliver a top-of-the-range work with a patriotic burst.
Work is therefore progressing at high speed for a complete renovation of the Tata Raphaël stadium, with an external order for the construction of the tartan track. Confident in the quality of the work carried out, ABC officials managed to meet the challenge of completing the work on time despite conflicting plans and additional work.
These Francophonie Games are an opportunity for the DRC to show its ability to organize a major sporting and cultural event of this magnitude. The stakes are therefore high for the country, and for President Tshisekedi who has promised to make the DRC shine on the international scene.
