“DRC: Arrest of an environmental agent for collaboration with ADF forces in Beni”

DRC: An environmental agent arrested for collaboration with the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF)

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) arrested an environmental officer for collaboration with the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF). This arrest, which took place in Kyondo, in the territory of Beni in North Kivu, was announced by Captain Anthony Mwalushayi, spokesman for the operational sector Sukola 1 Grand-Nord.

According to Captain Mwalushayi, Doré Mayani worked for several years with one of the commanders of ADF/MTM, Amigo Kibirigi and was arrested within the framework of the operations to dismantle the networks of collaboration with the ADF.

This arrest testifies to the determination of the army to put an end to the terrorist activities of the ADF which have bereaved the region of Beni for more than 10 years.

Indeed, for nearly a decade, the activities of the ADF have plunged this region into a humanitarian crisis. Despite government and military efforts to end the attacks, the ADF continue to sow terror in Beni.

This arrest is a further step towards stability and peace in the region and should encourage the Congolese authorities to maintain their commitment to eradicating the armed groups that are destabilizing the country.

Faced with this critical security situation, it is essential that the international community take measures to support the efforts of the Congolese authorities to restore peace and stability in the affected areas.
