The information was disclosed during a weekly briefing by the Minister of Communication and Media Patrick Muyaya and the Director of the National Committee of the Games of La Francophonie, Isidore Kwanja. They both stressed the importance of the presence of Louise Mushikiwabo as co-organizer of this long-awaited event.
The Francophonie Games are a quadrennial competition that brings together young French-speaking artistic and sports talents. After having been organized in cities such as Rabat, Paris, Antananarivo, Ottawa, Niamey, Beirut, Nice and Abidjan, it is now Kinshasa’s turn to host this prestigious event.
The previous edition of the Games, held in Côte d’Ivoire in 2017, brought together nearly 3,500 participants from 53 countries. This unique competition combines sporting events and cultural competitions, thus offering an exceptional showcase for the talents of French-speaking youth.
The Games of La Francophonie 2023 had originally been scheduled for 2021, but were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, with the confirmation of Louise Mushikiwabo’s attendance, the excitement and anticipation for this event is growing even more.
Holding the Francophonie Games in Kinshasa is a unique opportunity to showcase the cultural and sporting diversity of the Francophonie, while strengthening ties and exchanges between member countries. It is also an opportunity for the Democratic Republic of Congo to highlight its potential and its resources, while welcoming talents from the French-speaking world.
Louise Mushikiwabo will therefore play a key role in the launch of these Games and her presence in Kinshasa is eagerly awaited. This is a great opportunity to promote the importance of La Francophonie and to celebrate Francophone youth through sport and culture.
The next Games of La Francophonie promise to be an exceptional and memorable edition, and the participation of Louise Mushikiwabo will only add to the importance and prestige of this event
