“The Armed Forces of the DRC have neutralized the Mai-Mai/Yira militiamen and regained control of Muhola Hill in North Kivu”

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) recently took control of the strategic position of the Mai-Mai/Yira militiamen on Muhola hill, in the territory of Lubero, in the province of North Kivu. This follows a twenty-minute clash between the militiamen and the Republican army on the night of Saturday to Sunday July 23, 2023.

According to Captain Anthony Mualushayi Mbombo, several militiamen were neutralized and a number of weapons and military equipment were seized during this operation. The FARDC continue their efforts to eliminate these militiamen and other rebel groups who oppose the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community and Security Recovery Process (PDDRCS).

This FARDC operation demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to ensuring security and stability in the North Kivu region. It is also a step forward in the fight against armed groups that disrupt the lives of civilians and hinder the development of the region.

The Congolese army is sparing no effort to restore peace in the province of North Kivu and protect the civilian population. The FARDC works closely with other security forces and regional actors to combat terrorism and restore security in the region.

This stand by the FARDC is a strong signal sent to all armed groups seeking to destabilize the region. It demonstrates the Congolese army’s determination to protect citizens and restore peace in the North Kivu region.

The local population is encouraged to support FARDC efforts by reporting suspicious activity and working with the authorities to ensure everyone’s safety.

The actions of the FARDC in the North Kivu region are essential to preserve stability and allow the socio-economic development of the region. It is crucial that armed groups are neutralized and peace is restored to enable communities to rebuild their lives and prosper.

The FARDC intervention in Lubero is an important step in the fight against armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Congolese government continues to implement measures to strengthen security and stability throughout the country, in order to create an environment conducive to the development and well-being of all citizens.

The efforts of the FARDC must be supported by the international community in order to put an end to the violence and help the Democratic Republic of the Congo to achieve its objectives of peace and prosperity. Together we can work to build a stable, secure and prosperous Congo for all its inhabitants
