Preparations for the ninth Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, are making great strides. During the hundred and fifth meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by the Head of State Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, the report on the progress of the work was presented.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Francophonie, Christophe Lutundula Apala, underlined that the visit of the ambassadors of the member countries of the Francophonie to inspect the sports infrastructures and the accommodation sites resulted in a positive note. Work is progressing well and is on track to host the event.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, presented the progress of the works on the various sites, in particular the cycle track planned for the cycling competition. He announced that the government’s commitments had been honored to ensure the completion of the work.
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, François Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, addressed the challenges of the participation of Congolese athletes. He said the 198 Congolese athletes were ready, and Congolese officials would be involved in refereeing and other Games-related tasks.
For her part, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Catherine Katungu Furaha, spoke of the preparations in her sector for the participation of DRC delegates in the eleven disciplines selected for the Games.
