The challenges of energy transition and investments are at the heart of the concerns of the Democratic Republic of Congo. With this in mind, a DRC-United Kingdom forum on energy transition and investments will be held in London from September 5 to 9.
Initiated by the DRC, this project aims to change the economies of African countries with a focus on the battery industry. The country wishes to promote green energy, thus abandoning fossil fuels which harm the environment. In this perspective, the DRC hopes to convince the United Kingdom to get involved in the installation of a manufacturing plant for electric batteries and electric vehicles in the province of Haut-Katanga.
The project already benefits from the support of the United States of America, China with CATL-CMOC and the European Union, thus underlining its importance and its potential impact on the Congolese and African economy.
This forum plans to bring together Congolese and British political and economic actors, in order to mobilize the funds and resources necessary to promote a low-carbon economy. The aim is to stimulate investment in the battery sector and foster a sustainable energy transition in Africa.
Jean-Bosco Kanyemesha, Managing Director of KING STRATEGY, partner of the Ministry of Industry in the organization of this forum, stressed the importance of collaboration between Congolese and British economic operators to promote this carbon-free economy.
In summary, the DRC-UK Energy Transition and Investment Forum marks a key milestone in the DRC’s drive to develop the battery industry and drive a transition to cleaner energy in Africa. This initiative supported by international partners is a unique opportunity to accelerate economic development while preserving the environment.
