As part of the inclusive governance project in Kasaï (GIK), a collaboration between the United Nations Human Rights Office (UNJHRO), UN Women and the NGO World Vision, civil society actors met to discuss the organization of advocacy with political and administrative authorities in order to improve accountability.
This workshop, which took place in the province of Kasai, brought together members of civil society, young people and women, who shared their concerns on various topics. Among these concerns are the situation of insecurity in the city of Tshikapa, the shortage of drinking water and the problems of insalubrity in the city.
The UNJHRO officer, Virginie Musuamba, stressed the importance of the active involvement of young people and women in this process to achieve concrete change. The participants pledged to seriously implement the actions necessary to promote the development of their respective communities.
This workshop is part of efforts to promote inclusive governance and strengthen citizen participation in political decision-making at the local level. By enabling civil society actors to mobilize and make their voices heard, this project aims to create an environment conducive to accountability and the construction of a more just and equitable society.
In a region marked by significant social and economic challenges, it is essential to give voice to the various actors of civil society. By strengthening their capacity to carry out effective advocacy and by raising their awareness of the challenges of inclusive governance, the GIK project contributes to promoting sustainable development and improving the living conditions of local populations.
In conclusion, this workshop on the organization of advocacy within the framework of the inclusive governance project in Kasai offers a valuable opportunity for civil society actors to voice their concerns and actively participate in the construction of better governance. This is an important step towards achieving equity, social justice and sustainable development in the Kasai region
