“The low participation of women in the legislative elections of Maï-Ndombe: a call to action for equal representation!”

The article in question highlights the low participation of women in the national legislative election in the province of Maï-Ndombe, more precisely in the town of Inongo. So far, only seven female candidates have been registered, including two in the town of Inongo and five in the rest of the territory. The provincial executive secretary of the CENI deplores this lack of involvement of women in the current electoral process.

The lack of enthusiasm is also felt during the extended period for submitting applications. The CENI recalls that there will be no other additional deadlines and that candidates must respect the deadlines set.

The political participation of women is a major challenge for the promotion of gender equality and democratic representation. It is important to emphasize that women have organizations and associations that can support them in their approach. It is therefore essential to encourage them to become more involved and to develop their skills in order to run for political positions.

In the province of Maï-Ndombe, twelve seats of national deputies are to be filled, which offers a real opportunity for women to make their voices heard and to contribute actively to political decision-making.

It is essential to raise awareness in society of the importance of women’s participation in political life and to put in place concrete measures to promote their accession to positions of power. This notably involves specific training, awareness campaigns and inclusion policies.

It is time for the women of Maï-Ndombe to mobilize and position themselves as political leaders in order to assert their rights and participate fully in the construction of a more just and egalitarian society. The CENI and the various stakeholders must accompany this movement by actively supporting and encouraging the participation of women in the political life of the province.
