Introduction :
In the province of Maniema, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the NGO Action Program for Integrated Development (PADI) has embarked on a project to clean up the urban roads of Kindu. Since Friday, July 21, members of this organization have been traveling through the city’s neighborhoods to unclog the gutters clogged with waste and raise awareness of the importance of keeping the arteries clean. This initiative aims to improve the urban environment and preserve the health of the inhabitants.
Fight against urban insalubrity:
Since the asphalting of the roads of Kindu, the gutters and the ditches have become wild dumps. This situation is worrying because it generates an accumulation of waste and promotes the proliferation of diseases. The NGO PADI has therefore decided to act by unblocking the gutters and raising awareness among the population of the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
Awareness of the inhabitants:
The coordinator of the NGO, Assumani Samuti Bin Kasanga, insists on the importance of a change in the behavior of the population. Empty bags are distributed to households so that they can put their household waste in them and no longer throw them into the gutters.
