“Major victory for the Congolese armed forces in the fight against the militiamen in North Kivu”

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) win a crucial victory in the fight against militiamen in the North Kivu region. According to Captain Anthony Mualushayi Mbombo, a position held by the Mai-Mai/Yira militiamen was taken over by the regular army after an intense clash which lasted about twenty minutes. This event marks a significant step forward in operations against the armed groups that trouble the region.

The occupation of the strategic position on the Muhola hill, along the Butembo-Mangurejipa road, allows the FARDC to consolidate their hold in the territory of Lubero. In addition to this victory, four militiamen were neutralized during the confrontation, and several military and police effects were seized.

However, the operations against the militiamen are not over. The FARDC continue to carry out targeted actions to disarm these armed groups and others refractory to the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community and Security Recovery Process (PDDRCS). This continuation of operations aims to restore security and stability in the North Kivu region.

The fight against militiamen and armed groups is a long-standing challenge in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The FARDC and Congolese security forces are working tirelessly to restore peace in the country and protect civilian populations from violence. This victory demonstrates their commitment and determination to guarantee the safety of all.

It is important to emphasize that security in the DRC does not rely solely on military actions. It is also necessary to put in place measures for socio-economic development and strengthening the rule of law to address the root causes of the conflict and promote reconciliation and reconstruction. The Disarmament, Demobilization, Community and Security Recovery Process plays a key role in this process, offering former combatants opportunities for reintegration and reintegration into society.

Overall, the recapture of the Mai-Mai/Yira militia position by the FARDC represents a significant step forward in efforts to restore peace and security in North Kivu. However, much work remains to be done to completely eradicate the presence of armed groups and build a peaceful and prosperous future for the Congolese people. The determination and commitment of the Congolese security forces, supported by the international community, are essential to achieve this objective
