“Electrical disturbances paralyze Kongo Central: the population in distress!”

Article: Disruptions in the supply of electricity affect Kongo Central

Since last Saturday July 15, the province of Kongo Central, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been experiencing serious disruptions in the supply of electricity. Cities and towns served by high and medium voltage substations, such as Mpozo, OEBK, Kintata, Boma and Muenge, are particularly affected.

The towns of Matadi and Boma, as well as several towns in the Bas-Fleuve district, such as Sanda, Kinzau-Vuete, Manterne, Lemba, Patu, Mwenge and Lukula, are among the areas most affected by these disturbances.

According to a press release from the Regional Directorate of the National Electricity Company (SNEL / Kongo Central), these disturbances are due to the production deficit generated by the regular shutdowns of the G 23 and G 28 groups, which come from the Inga energy site. SNEL/Kongo Central apologizes for the inconvenience caused and assures that it has deployed its intervention teams to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

These power outages have significant consequences for the inhabitants of the region. They are forced to buy charcoal for cooking and can no longer keep their food supplies in good condition. In addition, many subscribers have taken out subscriptions to allow their children on vacation to follow cable channels, which is becoming difficult due to these disruptions.

It is therefore urgent to find a quick solution to these problems in order to restore normal electricity supply in Kongo Central. This will ensure the safety of the inhabitants and promote the development of the region. Hopefully the SNEL/Kongo Central response teams will resolve these issues quickly and efficiently
