International judo training camp: a promising gathering for African athletes

The Kinshasa police gymnasium is currently hosting an international judo training camp bringing together judokas from Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Republic of Congo, Niger and DR Congo. Supervised by international judo expert, Antonio Moreira-Faia, from Angola, these athletes train together in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.

For the judokas present, this experience represents a real advantage. Fanyo Laurynn, a Burundian athlete in the heavyweight category, points out that it allows them to learn new techniques and become familiar with their potential opponents. According to her, group training also promotes the development of techniques already acquired.

This gathering is not new for African judokas, as explained by Wogo Christophe, national technical director of judo in Congo Brazzaville. Inter-regional competitions regularly offer them the opportunity to meet, mingle and get to know each other better.

Antonio Moreira-Faia’s expertise is highly appreciated by the athletes present. She expressed confidence in their preparation for the Games of La Francophonie. According to her, the judokas are ready and their participation in this competition promises to be remarkable.

DR Congo will be represented by fourteen judo athletes, including seven women. This international training camp allows Congolese judokas to prepare physically and mentally to face the best French-speaking competitors.

Beyond the competition, these gatherings also contribute to strengthening ties between the participating countries. Judokas exchange their knowledge and experiences, thus promoting cooperation and friendship between nations.

In conclusion, the international judo training camp in Kinshasa is a major opportunity for African judokas to prepare for the sporting challenges ahead. Under the supervision of Antonio Moreira-Faia, these athletes train together, learn from each other and prepare to proudly represent their countries at the Games of La Francophonie. This gathering demonstrates the importance of cooperation and team spirit in the field of sport
