Tragic explosion in South Lubwe: violence continues to rage in North Kivu
A devastating explosion occurred on Wednesday evening in Lubwe Sud, a locality located in Rutshuru territory, North Kivu, killing at least nine people and injuring seventeen. According to information collected on the spot, the explosion was due to the mishandling of a bomb left by a curious individual.
Isaac Kibira, a local notable, told the media that the individual in question boasted of his knowledge of handling explosive devices and recovered this bomb. Unfortunately, his ill-fated manipulation resulted in a tragedy, claiming the lives of nine innocent people and causing injuries to seventeen others.
The provisional toll reports serious injuries among the survivors, who are currently being treated at Bambo General Hospital. The health authorities are doing everything possible to ensure the best possible care for these victims.
This tragic explosion occurred in a region already ravaged by armed conflict. Residents of South Lubwe and surrounding areas are therefore urged to be vigilant and exercise caution to avoid endangering their lives.
