The Games of La Francophonie in the DRC: Infrastructure ready to host sporting excellence

The 9th Francophonie Games are about to start in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and a delegation of senior government officials has visited the sites for an inspection visit.

The first stop on this visit was the Martyrs sports stadium, where all the infrastructure is ready to host the competition. At the Tâta Raphaël stadium, the laying of the synthetic turf is already finished, as well as the Judo and freestyle room. The tennis court is in the finishing phase. The prefabricated accommodation will not be ready in time, but the catering hall, dispensary and accreditation room are already operational.

The last stop of the visit was UNIKIN (University of Kinshasa), where everything is ready to welcome the athletes. The accommodations are in good condition, the water and the wifi connection are functional, and the chefs are ready to serve quality meals to the athletes.

The Government Spokesman, Patrick Muyaya, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the work and recalled the challenges that the DRC had to face to organize these games within tight deadlines. He also underlined the importance of these sports infrastructures which will remain as a heritage for the country.

Despite some delays, particularly related to the request to adapt the land to international standards, the government has made the necessary efforts to ensure the modernity and quality of the facilities.

This event is an opportunity to showcase the DRC on the international scene and to strengthen the country’s sports infrastructure.

In conclusion, a few days before the start of the Francophone Games, the DRC is preparing to welcome the athletes in optimal conditions. The infrastructures are almost ready and the government delegation is confident about the success of the event. It will also be an opportunity for the country to have new quality sports facilities
