The blocking of the Masiambio-Kwamouth road axis by the Mobondo militiamen continues to disrupt the daily life of the inhabitants of the region. Since Tuesday, highway robbers have taken control of the village of Nsele, thus preventing any passage to the city of Kwamouth. This situation has created many problems, in particular the economic suffocation of the region and the difficulty of supplying agricultural and manufactured products.
According to Kwamouth civil society, the attackers were responding to the orders of a leader named “Cobra”. Their presence in the area has also led to numerous acts of violence, such as the theft of motorbikes and other property belonging to Kwamouth residents.
This situation is all the more worrying as the road linking Kwamouth to Masiambio is a vital link for the survival of the town. Indeed, it allows the supply of essential products, as well as the transport of people and goods to other destinations.
Civil society in Kwamouth denounces this situation and points out that nearly two-thirds of the territory is now occupied by militiamen. This reality contradicts the figures announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Jean-Pierre Bemba, during the meeting of the Council of Ministers. According to him, only 74 villages out of the 140 in Kwamouth were occupied. Civil society insists on the need for more effective intervention by the authorities to put an end to this situation and restore security in the region.
In conclusion, the blocking of the Masiambio-Kwamouth road axis by Mobondo militiamen continues to affect the population, causing economic, logistical and security problems
