On July 21, 2023, during the Council of Ministers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi emphasized the importance of regulating the exchange rate in the market. In order to stabilize the country’s economy, he gave directives to the government, the Central Bank of Congo and the General Inspectorate of Finance to ensure the rigorous application of these measures.
At the same time, the Head of State urged the government to speed up the infrastructure works underway in different regions of the country. He asked for a monthly report on the progress of the Kalemie and Kinshasa dredging projects, as well as on the work in progress at Bangoka airport and Kolwezi airport. This desire to speed up the work aims to stimulate economic development and improve the living conditions of the Congolese.
In addition, President Tshisekedi announced the establishment of a control of NGOs present in the DRC in order to ensure their compliance with the laws and regulations in force. This measure aims to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of non-governmental organizations operating in the country.
In another register, the Head of State instructed the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works to present a detailed timetable for the launch of the works of the “Passion Road” linking Nkamba to Mbanza Ngungu. This project aims to improve road infrastructure in the region and promote trade and economic development.
These measures reflect President Tshisekedi’s commitment to stabilizing the DRC’s economy and accelerating infrastructure development throughout the country.
