Title: Joint FARDC-UPDF operations: Efforts to neutralize ADF terrorists continue in Mwalika Valley

Introduction :
In the fight against terrorist groups, the coordination of joint operations between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and the Ugandan Army (UPDF) is proving to be a real asset. Recently, an official dispatch revealed that 16 ADF terrorists were neutralized in the Mwalika Valley, located in Beni territory, North Kivu. This article reviews this operation and highlights the results obtained.

Development :
Since November 2022, the FARDC and the UPDF have launched a series of joint operations to put an end to the activities of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a terrorist group operating in the region. Following an ADF incursion into Mpondwe in Uganda on June 19, coalition forces intensified their actions in the Mwalika Valley and the Kasindi border area.

During this period, from June 20 to July 29, 2023, a total of 16 ADF terrorists, including 2 commanders close to the AMIGO leader, were neutralized. Among them were Abdou Masirika and Kabangakane. This operation also freed 24 hostages who were in the hands of the terrorists. Coalition forces seized 10 weapons of all calibers, as well as several military effects and supplies.

This success testifies to the commitment and effectiveness of the FARDC and the UPDF in the fight against terrorism. These joint operations are essential to coordinate efforts and maximize available resources. They allow better border surveillance and greater responsiveness to incursions by armed groups.

This victory is also a source of relief for the local populations, who live in constant fear of ADF attacks. Neutralizing these terrorists enhances security and stability in the region, allowing communities to go about their daily activities in peace.

Conclusion :
The joint FARDC-UPDF operations in the Mwalika Valley have demonstrated their effectiveness in the fight against the ADF. The neutralization of 16 terrorists, the release of 24 hostages and the seizure of weapons and military effects constitute significant progress in the fight against terrorism. Coordination between Congolese and Ugandan forces is essential to ensure security in the region and to protect local populations. It is crucial to continue these joint efforts to definitively eradicate the threat posed by the ADF and restore peace in eastern DRC
