Political Dialogue in the DRC: Towards democratic stability in 2023
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces many political and social challenges that hamper its democratic stability. In this context, the African Commission for the Supervision of Elections (CASE) calls on President Félix Tshisekedi to convene meetings to stabilize the democratic process in order to promote political dialogue and find solutions to the problems that hinder the proper functioning of the country.
In its statement of July 14, 2023, CASE expresses its concerns about the growing insecurity in the DRC. In addition, CASE denounces the attacks against Catholic prelates, accusing certain members of the presidential party of seeking to prevent the Church from playing its role. Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo Besungu, Monsignor Fulgence Muteba Mugalu, Monsignor Donation Nshole and Father Blaise Kanda are among the personalities targeted by these attacks, while the CENI and all the political parties in the country have boycotted their actions.
