“Strengthening female leadership in the media: a workshop to equip women journalists with the skills to access leadership positions”

Title: Empowering Women Journalists with the Skills for Leadership

Introduction :
In the media world, female leadership remains an important issue to address. Women journalists often face particular challenges in their careers, particularly in relation to decision-making and managing newsrooms. In order to strengthen their leadership skills and promote their participation in the defense of women’s rights, a capacity building workshop was organized for 18 female journalists.

Develop female leadership for effective media management:
The workshop covered two essential modules for promoting female leadership in newsrooms. The first module focused on gender politics in the media and its impact on promoting female leadership. Participants had the opportunity to understand the importance of gender equality in the media and how it can positively influence newsroom management.

The second module focused on defending and promoting the rights of women and girls through the promotion of female leadership. Women journalists were encouraged to actively engage in the defense and promotion of women’s rights through their journalistic work. They learned how to use their platform to give voice to women and girls and to raise awareness of gender issues.

The importance of supporting female leadership:
Supporting female leadership in the media is essential to ensure a balanced representation of women’s perspectives and experiences in society. Women journalists have a significant influence on public opinion and can contribute to promoting gender equality and combating gender stereotypes.

Additionally, strengthening female leadership in newsrooms can also lead to better management and decision-making. Women bring a unique perspective and a different approach to the table, which can enrich discussions and decisions made within the media.

Conclusion :
The capacity-building workshop was a valuable opportunity for women journalists to acquire the skills needed to access leadership and play an active role in promoting women’s rights. By supporting female leadership in the media, we pave the way for more balanced representation and more informed decisions
