President Félix Tshisekedi recently reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). During the 104th meeting of the Council of Ministers, he underlined the importance of State support in key projects such as that of TRIOMF RDC SA, a semi-public fertilizer production company, which brings together the Congolese State and foreign actors.
This statement follows monitoring and evaluation work involving the President’s Office, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Minister of Portfolio. TRIOMF RDC SA has proposed a recovery plan aimed at supplying the country with fertilizers and promoting the local production of fertilizers and strategic agricultural products, while supporting local farmers.
In order to secure national and foreign investments, the government is committed to improving the business climate in the DRC. President Tshisekedi has therefore instructed the Minister of Portfolio to examine the recovery plan of TRIOMF RDC SA. He also mentioned the involvement of the Ministers of Budget, Finance, Agriculture and Industry, under the supervision of the Prime Minister, for the implementation of this plan.
This initiative aims to strengthen the Congolese agricultural sector, promoting food self-sufficiency and stimulating agricultural production. By supporting projects such as TRIOMF RDC SA, the State seeks to promote agriculture as a driver of economic and social development.
This decision by President Tshisekedi testifies to his desire to place agriculture at the heart of national priorities. By investing in fertilizers and promoting local production, the DRC hopes to improve agricultural productivity, reduce food imports and create economic opportunities for local farmers.
The agricultural sector represents considerable potential in the DRC, with fertile land and a favorable climate for agriculture. However, adequate investment and support are needed to fully exploit this potential. TRIOMF RDC SA’s recovery plan demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting agricultural development and creating an enabling environment for investment in this key sector.
In conclusion, President Tshisekedi’s support for the agricultural sector in the DRC is a positive sign for the country’s economic development. By encouraging local production of fertilizers and supporting farmers, the government aims to strengthen food self-sufficiency and stimulate economic growth. It remains to be seen how the recovery plan of TRIOMF RDC SA will be implemented and what impact it will have on the Congolese agricultural sector.
