“The legislative elections in Tshikapa: The main political parties compete for the national deputation”

The legislative elections are approaching in Tshikapa and the political effervescence is felt in the city. The Candidature Reception and Processing Office (BRTC) has so far registered three compliant files out of the nine received for the national deputies. Among these files, three political parties stand out: the Alliance for Development Actions in Congo (AADC-A), the Movement for the Liberation of Congo (MLC) and the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) and their allies.

The AADC-A, the MLC and the UDPS each presented candidates for the national deputy in Tshikapa. On the side of the AADC-A, the candidacy of their representative Héritiers Piana is in the running, while the MLC has also lined up two candidates, including Héritiers Piana, for the city of Tshikapa and eight other candidates for the territory of Tshikapa. As for the UDPS, Mwanza Munya and Lukadi were chosen as candidates for the national deputy, along with eight other candidates for the territory of Tshikapa.

The UNC and its allies have meanwhile chosen Denise Muluka and Jean Bendel Mendes for the national deputation. These different political parties have until the end of the operation to submit their complete files to the BRTC.

Despite these applications already registered, it is important to point out that many forms have been withdrawn but have not yet been returned to the BRTC. The situation therefore continues to evolve until the official closure of the operation.

On the ground, in the commune of Kanzala, the political enthusiasm is palpable within the staffs of the groups and political parties. Problem files are being examined in order to allow a new filing within the time limits.

The electoral campaign therefore promises to be intense in Tshikapa, with political parties competing in their efforts to mobilize voters and gain their confidence. The next few days will be decisive in defining the final candidacies and officially launching the race for national deputy
