The candidacy of Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo filed in Butembo

This Friday, July 14, 2023, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo, lawyer and political candidate, submitted his application to the Office of Reception and Processing of Applications (BRTC) in Butembo. Through his political group “AV”, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo wishes to stand for election in Butembo, in the province of North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During his application, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo expressed his interest in understanding whether there would be an extension of the application deadlines. He was informed by the BRTC that for late applicants, there would be an option to submit their applications the next day, Saturday July 15, provided there was still a queue at 4 p.m.

Motivated by the problems facing the city of Butembo, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo chose to run as a candidate. Among the problems he wishes to solve are urban roads and the problem of electrical energy. In particular, he denounces the fact that the company Énergie du Kivu (ENK), responsible for supplying electricity to Butembo, charges consumers for the rental of meters, which he considers unacceptable.

The fight against insalubrity is also a major concern for Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo. He is also concerned about the fate of war-displaced people living in the city and is committed to solving problems related to their situation.

As a lawyer, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo has already been involved in many cases related to the concerns of the people of Butembo. He has tabled two bills concerning the massacres, and is engaged in lawsuits against the ENK company for the offenses it commits in the city. He is also interested in the files of REGIDESO, the company responsible for supplying drinking water to the population, and denounces the abusive practices linked to the billing of meters.

As a candidate, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo also wants to tackle the problem of paying internet connection for students. He denounces the fact that some institutions and universities charge internet connection fees, without providing effective access to the internet.

By submitting his candidacy, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo affirms his commitment to the people of Butembo and his desire to solve the problems facing the city. He hopes to bring about significant changes and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants
