Rap and Slam Festival in Bukavu 2023: When public speaking meets social commitment
Bukavu, the city located in South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, will be the scene of a unique cultural event: the second edition of the Rap and Slam Festival, called “Festiras”. Bringing together thousands of rap and slam lovers, this event promises total immersion in public speaking, highlighting renowned artists such as La Fouine, MPR, Yekima de Bel’Art, and many others. Again.
La Fouine, a true figurehead of the Franco-Moroccan rap scene, will be one of the headliners of this festival. With hit titles such as “Tous les memes” and “Quand je partir”, La Fouine promises to transport the public into its unique musical universe.
MPR, the duo formed by Yuma Dash and Zozo Machine, will also be present to ignite the Bukavu scene. Their anthology works such as “Malembe” and “Lobela ye Français” testify to the daily life of the average Congolese, thus offering a strong and committed message.
Yekima de Bel’Art, nicknamed “Le Poésident”, will bring a poetic and innovative touch to this festival. By mixing poetry, Afro-Congolese sounds, RnB and rap, Yekima has created a unique musical style called AFROSLAM. His songs such as “I present to you Kinshasa” and “Le tour du monde de la Francophonie” have been acclaimed by the international media, reflecting his desire to link business with pleasure through his music.
Alongside these renowned artists, other talents such as Bolivar Mvulu and Afande Ready will also be present to offer memorable performances during this great cultural event.
But the Festiras is not just about music. It is also about mobilizing young people around culture and important messages such as civic education, responsible citizenship, the fight against the manipulation of young people and violence, social cohesion and living together. Beyond the shows, activities such as guided tours of the Kahuzi National Park site and dialogues with students, young artists, activists and journalists will be organized.
